Troubleshooting Hasleo Disk Clone: Common Errors and Fixes
How to Use Hasleo Disk Clone: Step-by-Step Guide for Safe Drive Migration
Before you start
- Backup: Make a quick file backup of any critical data (external drive or cloud).
- Check target drive size: Target must be equal or larger than used space on source (or use resizing options).
- Power: Plug laptop into AC power.
- Download: Get the latest Hasleo Disk Clone installer from the vendor and install it.
Step 1 — Prepare drives
- Connect both source (old) and target (new) drives to the computer.
- In Windows Disk Management confirm both drives are visible and note their sizes/letters.
Step 2 — Launch Hasleo Disk Clone and choose mode
- Open Hasleo Disk Clone.
- Choose Disk Clone (clones entire disk) or Partition Clone (specific partitions). For full system migration choose Disk Clone.
- Select Mode:
- Clone Disk Quickly (sector-by-sector not required) — faster, recommended for OS migration.
- Sector-by-sector Clone — copies all sectors, use for bad-sector recovery or identical clones.
Step 3 — Select source and target
- Select the source disk (the disk you want to copy).
- Select the target disk (destination).
- Confirm you selected correctly — the target will be overwritten.
Step 4 — Set cloning options
- Enable Align partition to optimize for SSD if target is an SSD.
- Use Edit partitions on the target disk to resize partitions to fill the disk or set custom sizes.
- For UEFI/GPT systems ensure the EFI System Partition and Microsoft Reserved Partition are included.
Step 5 — Start clone and monitor
- Click Start to begin cloning.
- Wait — time depends on data amount and interface (USB vs SATA vs NVMe).
- Monitor progress and any warnings. Do not power off during cloning.
Step 6 — Finish and verify
- When complete, shut down the PC.
- Replace the old drive with the new drive (if swapping). For external target, disconnect safely.
- Boot from the target drive. Enter BIOS/UEFI if needed to set boot priority.
- Verify OS boots, files and applications run correctly.
Troubleshooting checklist
- Won’t boot: check BIOS boot order and whether source used MBR vs GPT; convert target or enable legacy/UEFI accordingly.
- Missing partitions: ensure all system partitions were selected and that GPT/UEFI mapping is preserved.
- Clone failed: check target health, cable connections, and try different clone mode.
Quick tips
- Use SATA or a USB 3.0/3.1 enclosure for faster transfers than USB 2.0.
- If migrating to a smaller SSD, shrink the source system partition beforehand so used space fits.
- Keep the original drive until you confirm the new drive functions perfectly.
